5 MINUTE GRAB CHALLENGE

 

I always do a little prep work prior to Papertrey Ink's anniversary festivities and stamp-a-faire (it really narrows my focus and thus, I become much more productive).  The most important thing I do is make a list of projects I need to create and a few ideas for each . . .

 

I wanted to create something vintage-ish to really make my mother's valentines day gift special (she's 85) so I grabbed my folders of red patterned paper scraps, and the black one, too. I had already decided to make a tag, so I grabbed a tag die, heart die, a  stamp set and it's coordinating die - I thought about crocheted lace, but settled on a scrap of wrinkled seam binding.

 

It just took some trimming and distressing of all the scraps and . . . voila!

I'm getting a jump on mother's day projects with papertrey ink's "bagged & tagged" challenge:

Unfortunately, stamping had to take a back seat to, what has seemed like at least a MILLION medical tests & procedures for my husband over the last few months - and the monumental arrival of our FIRST grandbaby - he's such a cutie :)  and SO worth giving up some creative time!!! 
This was a super speedy project (a rarity for me!) I found a piece of ribbon with a little sparkle and then watercolored the frame in soft colors to coordinate with it. I used the same watercolor paper to cut the tree and deer - thick foam dimensionals gave it the depth I wanted.


*tip - I like to put some ink on a 6x8 sheet of plastic, spray it with water until the colors blend, then place a piece of watercolor paper on top of the ink, carefully pick it up and turn it over to dry - after that, it's ready to die cut

HALLOWEEN HEAT 'n BOND

I wanted a gauzy texture for this ghost and spider web, so I bunched up some cheesecloth on a piece of heat 'n bond (sandwiched between a paper bag so it wouldn't stick to my iron) and the texture turned out just right . . .

Guess I'm in a "fallish" mood today . . . I masked the witch shape and just used black to spray a drop shadow effect on the "moon" for a fun tag.  I know a "good" witch (she was born on Halloween) who will be getting some Kara caramel fudge for her birthday with this tag tied around the box.  (I have to say "good" witch, because she's my boss - and she's THE BEST!!!)
