stamped square frames

Between technical issues, adopting a kitten, my husband's recent surgery and all of the holiday "bus-ness," my poor little blog has been neglected.  But now I have some new stamps & dies to break in, and I'm super excited to get back into my stamping routine . . .

For my childhood friend/college roommate/bridesmaid - oh, the fun we had growing up together! We managed to survive the 60s & 70s together.  We've lived on opposite coasts for almost 30 years, but I still think about her often . . .

I really enjoy making these little "mini" cards for my family & co-workers.  This one was so quick & easy to make with just a little strip of washi tape and a piece of ribbon . . .

hot pink holly!

I loved the color combo in the striped paper and thought it would be fun to use it for a "non-traditional" Christmas card. It's so bright and cheery - that's what the holidays are all about!

* tip for sewing on felt - use a scrap of tissue paper as a "stablizer" - then tear it away from the back of the felt pieces when you're finished

"Dimensional Leaf Wreath"

(I don't know why the color of the felt looks off - I tried several photos with different lighting and still couldn't capture it's true color - it REALLY does match the pink stripes!)

simple elegance tag

Unfortunately, stamping had to take a back seat to, what has seemed like at least a MILLION medical tests & procedures for my husband over the last few months - and the monumental arrival of our FIRST grandbaby - he's such a cutie :)  and SO worth giving up some creative time!!!
This was a super speedy project (a rarity for me!) I found a piece of ribbon with a little sparkle and then watercolored the frame in soft colors to coordinate with it. I used the same watercolor paper to cut the tree and deer - thick foam dimensionals gave it the depth I wanted.

*tip - I like to put some ink on a 6x8 sheet of plastic, spray it with water until the colors blend, then place a piece of watercolor paper on top of the ink, carefully pick it up and turn it over to dry - after that, it's ready to die cut

Just too busy . . .

being a grandma . . . here he is, our first grandbaby (and yes, he REALLY is this sweet :)

I wanted a gauzy texture for this ghost and spider web, so I bunched up some cheesecloth on a piece of heat 'n bond (sandwiched between a paper bag so it wouldn't stick to my iron) and the texture turned out just right . . .

fall is just around the corner

Schools started WAY too early around here this year - the middle of August! Noble Orchards has just opened for the fall season - we can get apples right up to the first day of spring.  We were pleasantly surprised last Friday when they were still picking peaches, so we bought an entire lug!

oven fresh accents

I did it!  I completed all of the challenges . . . Melissa's "Earthquake Cake" is gone . . . so I guess the party's over  :(
It will probably take me a week to clean up, but I sure enjoyed creating to my heart's content!

rolled dough designs

I've used the paperclay before, so I was interested in trying Melissa's technique with two layers of velllum . . . and yes, it oozed out all over the place when I ran it through my big kick, but it was very easy to clean up.  I really like the texture it creates - it seemed "winterish" to me . . .

Oh, what fun . . . it was soooo easy to make this scented embossing mix - I used my beloved "apple pie spice" and this little gingerbread man's heart smells heavenly without even scratching it!  Can't wait to repeat this technique with some pumpkin pie spice on my Thanksgiving projects  :)

spray mists

Guess I'm in a "fallish" mood today . . . I masked the witch shape and just used black to spray a drop shadow effect on the "moon" for a fun tag.  I know a "good" witch (she was born on Halloween) who will be getting some Kara caramel fudge for her birthday with this tag tied around the box.  (I have to say "good" witch, because she's my boss - and she's THE BEST!!!)

tea staining

I've always wanted to make one of Melissa Phillip's "fluffy" flowers, so this was the perfect opportunity!  I tea-stained muslin, die cut the flower and then stamped it.  It took a few minutes to get the right combination of layers . . . and voila!
